The Big Ride
End 2 End 2009
Thank you to Jean and John Burgess for funding the trip. We couldn't have done it without your help.
7th July 2009
The ride is complete! After 24 days and 1,146 miles Chris and Nick have reached John O'Groats. They have now ridden the length of the mainland UK - from the southwest tip to the northeast - End2End.
Thanks to all those who supported them and donated money to the Gift of Sight Appeal.
THE GIFT OF SIGHT
Count the shades of green that you can see
From the grass at your feet to the tallest tree.
Count the clouds in the changing sky,
Count the shadows as night draws nigh,
Count the flowers in a daisy chain
Or the drops of rain on the window pane Count your blessings and know it’s right
That high on your list is the gift of sight.
Chris Browning (19) and Nick Dawson (19) have completed a 24-day, 1,146-mile cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for the Gift of Sight Appeal, who are currently doing research into a cure for retinal disorders, such as macular degeneration, nystagmus, glaucoma and cone dystrophy.

The reason the route is longer than the standard one chosen by cyclists is due to the fact we have decided to do the whole ride on The National Cycle Network. For more information about the National Cycle Network visit www.sustrans.org.uk
